Pita Chips
(4 small servings)
A while ago, someone I knew prepared some homemade pita chips with Italian salad dressing. I loved them and started making them at home from time to time. But, when I got sick the spices in the dressing did not agree with me, so I made my own seasoning with herbs.
Pita chips are much better for you than potato chips.
Ingredients:
-2 pita breads (white bread)
-1/2 tablespoon (7.5ml) of dry oregano
1/2 tablespoon (7.5ml) of dry parsley
2 tablespoons (30 ml) of olive oil
-A pinch of salt
-A pinch of ground black pepper
Recipe and cooking instructions:
-Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
-In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of olive oil, a pinch of salt and ground black pepper, 1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) dry oregano, and 1/2 tablespoon (7.5 ml) dry parsley together with a spoon.
-Cover a cookie sheet with aluminium foil.
-Break 2 pita breads into pieces, and place them on the cookie sheet.
-Put the prepared seasoning on each individual pita bread pieces with a brush.
-Put the cookie sheet in the hot oven on the middle rack and cook for about 8 minutes, until the pita pieces are browned and crispy.
-Take the cookie sheet out of the oven using oven mitts, turn the oven off, and let the pita chips cool down before eating them.
