Novels

I coincedentally started publishing the same year I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I am a multi-genre author with several book titles available to purchase on Amazon, plus some of my work (short stories, poems, and memoirs) was also featured in anthologies, complilation books, and online magazines.

I wrote a fictional novel called "Hope" back in 2011, about a young woman living with Ulcerative Colitis. When I wrote the book, I was desperate to make people understand what it was like to have my digestive illness. But I have to admit that my publishers at the time priced the book ridiculously high, and it's really not my best work. The book is really long, detailing each day of the patient which was highly based on my own past, and I now feel that the main character did not suffer enough since like me at the time her experience was only just beginning. She had it too easy despite her daily struggles.

Since then, between 2014 and 2015, I have published a series of three feel good books about a different character who has Ulcerative Colitis. Again, I wanted to create awareness. However, each individual fiction stories which have a diary style to them, are not purely focused on the character's illness, so it makes it more pleasant to read. The stories were inspired by my own life when I found ways to travel despite my IBD issues. I received many positive reviews for "Not Alone," "Really Not Alone," and "Harmony."  Plus, each book is reasonably priced.

Book 1: Not Alone, by Chantal Bellehumeur:
Harmony Goodhumor didn't always get along with her younger sister Katherine, but the girls became close after their mother's death. When Harmony moved to another city for university, she missed Katherine very much.

The girls tried to be there for one another as best as they could whenever a personal problem would occur, but there was only so much they could do for each other.
There came a time when Harmony started feeling depressed and alone.
One summer, Harmony decided to go visit Katherine in her new home. During her short trip to Moncton, New Brunswick, Harmony did more than just spend time with her sister and something unexpected happened during an excursion.
When Harmony returned home, she started missing Katherine again as well as other loved ones. But, during her moment of blues she makes the realisation that she is not as alone as she feels.
(Although highly inspired by Chantal's trip to New Brunswick and her feeling of loneliness, this is a work of fiction.)

Book 2: Really Not Alone, by Chantal Bellehumeur

All the positive comments and high ratings for the feel good book Not Alone led to this sequel.
Harmony Goodhumor continues to tell the story of her life in the first person, allowing the reader to feel like they are either inside her mind or reading her diary.
The main character becomes close to family members she once had issues with, moves in with the love of her life, and explores parts of Canada during an organised trip with her son and fiancé as well as during her honeymoon.
Although there once was a time in Harmony's life where she felt alone, during the year- long wedding preparations she becomes aware that she is really not alone.

Book 3: Harmony, by Chantal Bellehumeur

This is the third book in the Harmony series, the first being "Not Alone," and the second "Really Not Alone."

After a sad past, the main character leads a harmonious life.

Harmony heads out of town to attend her sister Katherine's wedding as a bridesmaid. She later goes on a weekend getaway with her husband Christian to celebrate their one year anniversary, and their second honeymoon extends during their summer vacation. Although the couple decides to simply do a staycation, exploring the Montreal regions turns out to be quite fun. They end up in The Laurentians a couple times, where they find peace...

Not everything in Harmony's life is perfect, but she gets through the minor issues.

Like the other books in the series, this romantic story is being told from the main character's point of view. It's like reading a personal diary!
